How to access e-books which say "On order" on the Library Catalogue

Dec. 20th 2011 - If you spot an e-book on the library catalogue but are disappointed because it says "On order", don't give up! If you go directly into Ebrary or MyiLibrary on- or off-campus and search for the book by title, you will be able to read the full book before it appears on our catalogue. Try Ebrary first, then if the book isn't there, try MyiLibrary.

Study Room Door Controllers

Dec. 6th 2011 - We have experienced intermittent problems with some of the door controllers to the study rooms.  A replacement piece of hardware is being installed in all the door controllers this Friday, 09/12/11.  This means that the study rooms will be unavailable for a period to allow the engineer time to install and test these.

SCONUL 'Other' Library Use Survey with Prize Draw

SCONUL (the Society of College, National and University Libraries) wants to understand better the requirements and expectations of students, researchers and staff for library use away from their ‘home’ institution - and how they are being or might be satisfied. So this survey is about identifying and providing the services people need.

This survey is a key part of this work. It is open to any person currently involved in higher education in the UK or in Ireland, running from Wednesday 16th November to Friday 9th December. The survey is being conducted for SCONUL by Sero Consulting.

The survey is relevant to any HE library user even if you never used an access scheme. It covers your expectations as well as your experiences of actual visits

It should only take 5-6 minutes of your time and so it is set up to complete – you cannot return without re-starting.

Prize draw: You are invited to provide your email address if you wish to be entered in to our prize draw – your chance to win one of SIX £30 Amazon vouchers drawn at random.

To ensure your privacy, and in line with the principles of the Data Protection Act, the survey data will be stored securely by Sero Consulting Ltd and will not be disclosed in any way that can be traced to you as an individual.

Library Website Issues

30th Nov. 2011 - We apologise for problems you may have experienced when visiting our website recently. This was due to a change of server and DNS addressing. Unfortunately there can be delays in the propagation of DNS changes to DNS servers around the world, but by now most people should now be able to view the website correctly.

If you are still experiencing problems you can try restarting your computer to ensure you pick up the updated DNS address. If this doesn't work, your internet service provider may be able to tell you when their DNS service will be updated and/or suggest another solution.
