You can find ebooks on Discovery, but you can search the full text of the books by using the individual services.

Explore key topics as well as search and browse books.  Additional features include an interactive world map of architecture, time-line and images of key buildings and museum objects.


A key source of up-to-date technical information for the architecture and construction industries. Information includes building regulations, advice notes, British Standards, government reports as well as journal articles, e.g. from the Architects' Journal and books such as the Metric Handbook. You can access Architect's Journal from 2014 onwards for the University of Portsmouth.

The full text of thousands of books published in Britain from 1475 to 1900. This collection comprises Early English Books Online (EEBO) and Eighteenth Century Collections Online (ECCO), plus nineteenth century books from the British Library collection.

This version will cease to exist on 31st July 2024. We already have separate access to ECCO via Gale and will have EEBO via ProQuest (this is currently being trialled).
